Admission with Advanced Standing
The Admissions Committee will consider applications from currently enrolled second-year students in good-standing of LCME accredited American and Canadian medical schools for entry to the third-year class. Since the school takes a full complement of students in the first year, only an occasional position becomes available for transfer. Preference in admission is given to residents of Connecticut. Also, an admission will be issued only if there are compelling circumstances for transfer, and only if the transfer has the full support of the student’s current medical school.
Applicants for advanced standing must complete and submit the school’s Advanced Standing Application, the Supplemental Application, application fee, transcripts for all academic work completed, MCAT scores and Step 1 of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), and letters of recommendation. A comprehensive Dean’s letter of transfer from the Medical School in the format of the MSPE is required. Interviews are arranged at the request of the Admissions Committee only. Offers of admission require students to meet with faculty to determine an academic schedule. Under normal schedules and circumstances, students must complete the pending requirements within two years, pursuing normal third and fourth year schedules. Personal leaves of absence will not be allowed after transfer.
When possible, it is our preference that you complete your supplemental application using a PC (vs. a Mac).
